My name is Angela. I have created
this website, "Children with ADHD and ODD", to support families with special needs children, diagnosed
with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I'm also going through this journey
with you. Don't lose hope.
Because of his impulsiveness,
my son Scottie, who is 10 yrs old, has been going through such a hard time with ADHD an ODD. Because
of these behavioral and neurological disorders, he
has a difficult time, focusing, and staying still. He has a short temper, and is very defiant. It's really
getting him into trouble in and out of school. He
just can't stay still. It overtakes him and that's when he starts getting aggressive towards others It just breaks
my heart, because he is so young and he is going through so much.
To help my son succeed in school, I
have requested that my son, recieves all the special education services that he needs included an IEP so that
he can be productive in school and not get lost in the system!! I thank god everyday that he is getting the help that
he needs to achieve in school and out of school...
The medications, is like being on a roller coaster ride...One
minute the medication is working and the next is dosen't and then, there are the side affects, and then you have to
change the medication and this will go on until you find the right one that is best for him.
As time went on, I have chosen not to continue to give
Scott medication. It was just to hard, to see what he was going through with side affects and mood swings.
Since he has not been on medication, Scott has improved. It's been tough, and their has been challenges but with
tough love and being their for him, Scott has grown and is now learning that their are consquences when
he dosen't behave in school and at home. Everyday is a new day, with new challenges and everyday we learn something
new about ADHD and ODD but I won't give up on my son and I will be his advocate, and his voice.
With lot's of love, understanding and determination,
my son will be able to succeed in life as he grows into an adult and achieve his goals and make them into
reality!!!
I hope we can unite as one
for our children who are already victims to these behavioral and neurologic disabilities. To new beginnings!!!

calling...We are here to support one another not to put down anyone ...If you choose to do so, then you will be dropped from
